- Egg donation is truly the highest level of giving anyone
could ever hope to accomplish. It is literally, the giving of
yourself - an unselfish act of mercy, to help those less fortunate.
It is the most supreme gift of all, the gift of life.
Sperm donation has been available for years. Men have always
been able to help other men become fathers. Only recently has
egg donation been available for women to help other women become
mothers.
Egg donation is a fertility treatment whereby a young woman,
who has decided to become a donor, is given medication to help
her make more than just one egg that month. She is monitored
very carefully by the doctor to make sure that the eggs are growing
appropriately. At the right time, the eggs are removed, usually
from below. They are then mixed with the male partner's sperm,
and hopefully, an embryo will start to grow. The cells are then
placed into the womb of the woman desiring a child. Hopefully,
nine months later, she will give birth to her healthy baby. She
will finally have the family she has wanted for so long.
It takes a very special person to be an egg donor. Not only does
she need to be young and healthy, but she needs to be responsible
and very dependable. It is absolutely critical for her to make
all of her doctor appointments and to take her medication accurately.
Being an egg donor is not only helpful to you financially but
emotionally satisfying as well. The fact that you've been an
integral part in making someone's dream of having a family come
true, is deeply satisfying.
